Have Any Question?
Couriers charge for space in their delivery network which is why our parcel delivery quote engine needs to know not only the weight of your parcel but also the dimensions. When sending items via Air, these charges increase even more, so if you want to send a parcel to Europe you should consider the road options if your parcel is not urgent. When sending items via Road, the rules on what can and cannot be shipped are a little more lenient.
Obviously, as we are well connected to Europe via various transport links, road freight delivery times are not especially slow. Most major destinations on the continent are delivered to in 2 days when parcels are sent via Road whereas countries like Greece, Bulgaria, and Sweden who are a little further afield take 3-5 working days.
Once the courier has collected your parcel either from your doorstep or the drop off point, it will be sent to a central sort depot and dispatched to the correct country. When shipping a parcel to Europe, road is often the method used to transport your parcel, whether that be via ferry or the Channel Tunnel.
The premium couriers we offer will send your parcel via the most efficient route possible but we do offer some specific road services
Some of the couriers who offer road delivery include DHL and our own Parcel Monkey branded road service. DPD and Parcelforce will often send your items via road if you book the standard type of services rather than express. TrakPak also often use road freight to move parcels into Europe.
That depends on some factors such as volumetric weight and the distance the parcel has to travel.
The best way to find out is just to plug in the details of your parcel into our quick quote form and find our latest prices. It’s just a case then of deciding which price you are more comfortable with.
When sending large or heavy items to Europe such as 50kg parcel, our road freight prices can save you huge sums. There is well over £100 saving to be made by using DHL Road freight compared to DHL Air Express when sending to Germany for example.
Obviously, some countries and destinations that you could realistically travel via road transport wouldn’t be either feasible or economical. Hence the locations are very much restricted to mainland Europe.
You can find a list below, but the best way to find out if you can get a cheap price to send a parcel abroad a road freight is to conduct a quick quote:
